HUMANITY
premiered in 2021
Humanity, inspired by the short story “The Child’s Story” by Charles Dickens. An exploration of living one’s truth, being present, and celebrating our differences. Choreography by Chloe Roberts, under the direction of Devyn Duex, with special guest performances. Nebula’s newest evening length adaptation follows the journey of our main character through New York City and its various thematic neighborhoods, illustrated through a diverse palette of dance, music and multimedia. Including guest artistry by Karyn Laver.
HHII Dance Festival

Presented by Nebula Dance Lab, HH11 Dance Festival is an annual dance festival in its 6th year, showcasing 30+ works within three unique shows, plus the Apogee Awards and kickoff evening highlighting Arts Education & Youth performances. Artists featured over the past five years have spanned the Globe from Budapest Hungary to New York City, Chicago IL and Canada, plus across California including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, and Santa Barbara.
HH11 strives to bring together international & national artists both emerging and established in three professional-quality performances. Each show is unique featuring a diverse representation of professional dance works. Plus, the Apogee Awards and kickoff evening February 27th, honoring Arts Education featuring special performances by youth and professional companies. Don't miss any of these amazing performances!

Join us in the kickoff of a Decade of Dance Lab celebration. An evening curated to take you on a journey through the first ten years of Nebula’s creative collaboration. Featuring repertory work by Erin Martinez, Emily Tatomer, Meredith Cabaniss, Brooke Hughes Melton, Devyn Duex and internationally renowned Edgar Zendejas. Also premiering new works by Gianna Burright and Indy Award Winning Choreographers Shelby Lynn Joyce and Weslie Ching. A diverse palette of dance works performed by Nebula’s professional artists. Plus special pre-show performances by youth companies in Santa Barbara.
This evening is set to be a beautiful celebration of the journey and evolution of Nebula Dance Lab’s first 10 years.

Inspiration sets to the stage ...Get ready, set, go to experience the dedication and passionate performances by PantherDance Company artists. Launched in 2017 at Peabody Charter School, PantherDance Company under the direction of Steven Lovelace, gives interested students a deeper experience of dance and performance. Students also have the opportunity to be mentored in their own choreography.
Join PantherDance Company in their third annual showcase evening! You will be treated to an evening of diverse student choreography, showcasing the dancers creativity, sure to entertain! Plus, group numbers created by the talented choreographic team led by Steven Lovelace. Hold on & get ready to be inspired!

Enter a world where dreaming takes flight in this collaborative dance exploration featuring guest performances by Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Dance, Santa Barbara Dance Theater, alongside new Nebula works by Meredith Cabaniss & Indy award-winning choreographer Shelby Lynn Joyce. Alice’s wondrous world will return to the Lobero stage in Nebula’s evening-length work Through the Looking Glass with choreography by Meredith Cabaniss, featuring Devyn Duex, and Karyn Laver. Live musical accompaniment composed and directed by Adam Phillips of the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara, and compelling visual artistry. Through the Looking Glass

A compelling original work inspired by Lewis Carroll’s book, Alice’s imaginative and curious world comes to life through intricately woven choreography by Meredith Cabaniss, Devyn Duex, and Karyn Laver, featuring collaborations with The Dance Network and SELAH dance collective. To breathe depth and color into the world of Alice, Nebula once again collaborated with composer Adam Phillips to create an original score, which will be played live by Santa Barbara Folk Orchestra small ensemble, and unique visual art by Meredith Cabaniss.

The Inquisitor
created collaboratively and debuted in 2015
Nebula pushed the choreography to new places resulting in a cohesive blend of ambitious technical dance and intricate signature partnering. Danced to a new original score by Adam Phillips and played live by Adam's Mission Creek Trio, The Inquisitor included scenery of original artwork by Shelby Lynn Joyce, which was projected as a backdrop throughout the show.
